Taco seasoning

Have you ever craved something then realized you most likely have everything to make it? Those are the best moments! I think back on that “ah ha” moment and wonder what took me so long to realize I could make up my own seasoning mix that is more flavorful, healthier, and cheaper! Trifecta! It took a beautiful friend’s visit and a day of low motivation to leave the house for me to realize that making my own taco seasoning was going to become a simple reality! Thank you, Caty!

2 tbsp chili powder
1 tbsp cumin
1 tbsp garlic powder
2 tsp onion powder
2 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp paprika
2 tsp salt
1 tsp cayenne pepper

Mix all the spices together and place into an stir tight container until ready to use.

When ready to use, add 2 heaping tbsp of your homemade taco seasoning to 1 lb of browned and drained ground meat. Add 1/4 c of water and stir together until well incorporated, about 5 minutes.

Serving suggestions:
Add the meat to your favorite flour or corn tortillas, topped with some finely diced red onion, cilantro and cotija cheese.

Or, serve the seasoned meat on top of corn tortilla chips to make a scrumptious plate of nachos.

A tostada sounds pretty tasty, too! The possibilities are endless!
