Brownies

Don’t lie, even the most sophisticated person loves a good, rich, and decadent brownie. I was watching a cooking competition once on my favorite cooking channel and one of the judges remarked that anyone can make a brownie. Is that supposed to be hurtful? Because I think everyone is absolutely capable of making a beautifully delicious brownie. You likely have most of the ingredients in your pantry. This basic brownie recipe is a staple in my house. I hope you enjoy it.

6 oz 70% or higher bittersweet baking chocolate
3/4 c butter
1-1/2 c sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1-1/2 c flour
1 c chopped nuts (optional)

Heat your oven to 350F. Prepare your 13” x 9” baking pan by coating it with a light layer of butter and line it with parchment paper. Make sure there is a 2” overhang on the parchment paper. This will make for easier removal when the brownies are baked and cooled.

Using a double boiler, melt the chocolate and butter. Remove melted chocolate from the heat. In the same bowl, stir in the sugar, blending well. Add the eggs and vanilla. Gently stir in the flour and nuts in using.

Spread the brownie mix into your prepared pan. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out with crumbs. Allow the brownies to cool in the pan.

When ready to cut, simply pull on the parchment paper. Place on a cutting board and use a serrated knife for beautiful brownies.

Enjoy!
